How We Support Independence
In a Montessori classroom children are encouraged to become independent from an early age. They choose activities, take care of their workspace, help others and learn responsibility. Teachers guide rather than control.
This approach develops confidence, self-discipline and a love of learning. When children are given the freedom to make choices and learn from their experiences, they develop a strong sense of self-efficacy that serves them throughout their lives.
The carefully prepared Montessori environment provides just the right balance of freedom and structure, allowing children to explore, make mistakes, and discover their own capabilities in a safe and supportive setting.
